BENEDICT
Benedict is a one-and-a-half-year-old child. He is one of the many orphans that live in the orphanage we support in Dodowa. His mother has a serious psychological disease. She carried two babies full term, who she got from two different men she did not know. Both children were abandoned. The second one is Benedict. His mother gave him birth directly within the orphanage and then ran away. She is seen walking around the village crying out aggressively that they took her baby away from her, but she doesn't even remember his name and where he is. She is an outsider, she is considered dangerous and possessed by evil. Little Benedict is a very sweet child. He helps adults in the daily routine, he even carries wood and stones, if needed. And he definitely loves when he is told stories.
Now Benedict has a Sponsor and because of that, he has a bed of his own, clothing, health care coverage and lots of love.
WAWA
Could you stand the idea that your 4-year-old nephew gets abandoned by his parents, after being tortured by his own mother who would tied him up to the table and put out her cigarettes on his legs? And could you stand the idea that because of your bad financial conditions and your advanced age you cannot help him out and he is then obliged to live on the road? We do not know which nightmares are haunting this grandmother's mind, but we do know those haunting little Wa-Wa's, one of the many children of Baan Lung Pitak in Thailand.
SOHO's volunteers of August, our sparks of happiness, decided to give him a better life. Tomorrow, Wa-Wa will undergo some medical examinations that will allow him to be admitted to a proper orphanage, that will keep him out of the street and have a pillow at night and a breakfast in the morning.
Another child will be smiling again tomorrow thanks to our sparks of happiness.
